Bangladesh Reference Institute for Chemical Measurements (BRiCM) organized a seminar titled “Attaining international standard in chemical measurements: BRiCM’s pursuit” in its auditorium on 21 January 2023.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology Ziaul Hasan ndc and Commerce Senior Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh attended the seminar as special guests, while CEO & MD of Unilever Bangladesh Javed Akhter and MD of Pran group Eleash Mridha were honorable guests. The seminar was chaired by DG of BRiCM Dr Mala Khan.
Dr Khan, the founding scientist and DG of BRiCM presented the key note speech. She described the journey of BRiCM along with its success and achievements.
Targeting to establishing international standard in chemical measurements in the country, BRiCM is developing, disseminating and delivering calibration, proficiency testing/ inter-laboratory comparison, certified reference materials, method validation and also reference measurement services.
BRiCM has so far developed 3912 chemical measurement (analytical) services, calibration services for 22 analytical equipment of laboratory and industry, 32 medical equipment used in medical diagnostic laboratory. BRiCM has organized 41 proficiency testing programme and also participated in 7 international proficiency testing programme, produced 3 reference materials (pH Buffer, Diclofenac Na & Acetaminophen).
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology Ziaul Hasan ndc mentioned about the success, national and international exposer of BRiCM. Honorable PM has created this institute considering of importance of chemical measurements in our national development. BRiCM is working day and night in order to reach its target and it is succeeding, he added.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Tapan Kanti Ghosh mentioned in his speech that the present government is working hard for creating a knowledge-based society and honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is relentlessly working for implementing Bangabandhur Sonar Bangla. He also emphasized on attaining international standard in chemical measurements.
CEO & MD of Unilever Bangladesh strongly mentioned that BRiCM’s example is unparalleled in providing internal standard services.
Managing Director of Pran group Eleash Mridha appreciated all the services that are being provided to Pran group by BRiCM. Pran group exports food and other goods to about 147 countries with the test report of BRiCM and they have faced no complaint so far, he asserted.
