Leaders of Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) have demanded to de-syndicate the manpower sending sector. They said that to speed up the country's foreign exchange collection sector, BAIRA should be de-syndicated.
The leaders of the organisation placed their demand at a press conference at Sagar-Runi Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity in the capital on Saturday. Speakers demanded that those involved in corruption and irregularities in the manpower transmission sector be brought under appropriate punishment.
Acting President of BAIRA Riaz Ul Islam said, the main mastermind of BAIRA Syndicate is Ruhul Amin Swapan, Lieut. J. (Retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury, Nizam Hazari, Benazir Ahmed, Mohiuddin Mahi, Kazi Mofizur Rahman. He mentioned their alleged involvement in money laundering and rampant irregularities.
He said, due to the syndicate, the labour market of Bangladesh is on the verge of destruction. Sending workers to Malaysia is stopped because of their syndicates and corruption. He also said that Bangladesh's biggest foreign exchange earning sector is the foreign employment sector. 22 billion dollars of foreign exchange is earned from this sector every year.
The Acting President said that this sector is highly tainted due to the syndicate of ghosts of past dictators. Because of them, the Malaysian labour market is repeatedly closed.
Because of them, workers could not go to Malaysia against the demand of 50,000. Out of which 17 thousand were finaly BMET completed.
Acting President urged the interim government to take action against the syndicate.
