Windies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo achieved an elusive milestone on Wednesday as he became the first bowler to take 500 wickets in T20 cricket, report agencies.
Bravo achieved the feat during his side Trinbago Knight Riders' clash against St Lucia Zouks in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020. Bravo was one wicket away from achieving the 500-wicket milestone heading into the game.
Rahkeem Cornwall became Bravo's 500th scalp in T20 cricket after the St Lucia Zouks batsman was caught by Colin Munro in the 4th over of his side's innings.
An elated Bravo celebrated the wicket by raising both his hands as his teammates applauded him for achieving the 500-wicket milestone. No player in the world has taken even more than 400 wickets in the T20 format yet.
Bravo has managed to achieve the feat of 500 wickets in 459 matches at an average of just over 24 including two five-wicket hauls. While Bravo is on top of the list of highest wicket-takers in T20s, he is followed by Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga on the second spot with 390 wickets under his belt.
Bravo has been exceptional in the shortest format of the game and has proved his mettle with both bat and the ball. He has played for over 15 teams in T20 leagues around the world and continues to be one of the finest death over bowlers in T20s despite being 36.
