The most exciting domestic cricket tournament, the franchise cricket competition BPL is just knocking at the door when it’s initial stage will get underway with the players’ draft from tomorrow.

A total of seven teams, same numbe of previous season are taking part in the top-level professional Twenty20 cricket league of the country.

The 11th season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is set to begin on December 27, and preparations are going on full swing with the occasion of players’ draft and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has ealready finalised the names of 188 local players across six categories for tomorrow’s players’ draft. But this time the BPL may miss the ear-piercing of pact up crowds.

A total of 12 players will receive the highest salaries, classified in category 'A', while category 'F' has the most players, totaling 63, with the lowest salaries.

The governing body of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has fixed the spending limit for this year's draft. Each franchise can spend taka four crore for local players and taka Tk three crore for foreign players. Apart from this, the teams can spend additional money for direct contracts. The list of retained and direct contracts of local players who played in the previous season has been submitted to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Saturday.

However, the earlier schedule to kick off the BPL season 2025 from 1 January to 11 February 2025, the commencement date was later advanced to 27 December 2024, as the BPL Governing Council announced the fresh schedule in September.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has finalized the names of 188 local players across six categories for the upcoming player draft on October 14. A total of 12 players will receive the highest salaries, classified in category 'A', while category 'F' has the most players, totaling 63, with the lowest salaries.

But the most entertaining cricket festival of the country seemingly will not get it’s height this time, as previous seasons it had.

May be the BPL of this season will lost some of it’s attractions for various reasons. First of all, it is very much difficult for the franchise teams to collect star players from abroad, as there were so many claims with the players’ payments of the previous seasons. Teams delayed or even failed to meet the payments of both foreign and local players.

The most attraction of the franchise cricket tournament is a huge get together of stars players from home and abroad and their entertaining performances. Fans gather to enjoy the parade of celebrated performers. But this time the uncertainty looms large about the participation of star-studdeds from abroad due to bad reputations of dealings.

The recent woeful performances of the top leve local players with national team in the different international T20 sereis and in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2023 would also play a negative aspect among the fans.

Meanwhile, the poster boy of Bangladesh cricket, in fact the one of the world top all rounders Shakib Al Hasan most probably wll not play this season of the BPL.

So, if the world class stars like Shakib will not not available in the tournament, fascinations of the fans will certainly not as they had in the previous occasions.

Fans gathered into the stadium to watch the parade of the star players, so the absence of the entertainers crowds will be less interested and the excitement of the BPL will get it’s height.
