BPL football resumes today

TVS Bangladesh Premier League football to resume from Thursday with four matches will take places in different venues across the country.

The result of today’s all four encounters will be important for the respective teams when the opponents of Abahani Limited, Mohammedan Sporting Club, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra and Bangladesh Police are struggling to get out from the relegation zone and all of them have four matches in hand to play.

One of the title contenders Abahani Limited scheduled to take on Swadhinota Krira Sangha at the Sylhet District Stadium, Rahmatganj will face Police at the Muktijudho Smriti Stadium Rajshahi Stadium, Uttara Baridhara will take the Mohammedan SC challenge at the Shaeed Dhirendranath, Stadium Comilla and Muktijodha Sangsad Krira Chakra will take on Sheikh Russel KC at the Sheikh Moni Stadium, Gopalganj.

Abahani Limited, the six times champions of the Bangladesh Premier League, have a least chance in black and white to remain in the title race but the equation is more than difficult, when the table toppers Bashundhara Kings will have to concede defeat in rest of their all three matches.

If Abahani will be forced to share points with Swadhinota, as they did in their first leg encounter at Rajshahi, will be fully out of title race and for Bashundhara the way to retain the championship would be easier.

For Swadhinota KS, it would be very important match, as they are the most bottom side of the points table with only nine from 18 matches. If they could make any upset to snatch all three points from the four matches they will play, will be able to do a miracle having an exit from the relegation zone but seemingly impossible.

At the Rajshahi Stadium, it will be a do or die match for Rahmatganj MFS, when they are yet to be free from the relegation threat.

The Old Dhaka outfit, who will face Bangladesh Police, are still at relegation zone with 14 points on ninth place, closely followed by another relegation fighters Uttar Baridhara, who are on 10 place with 13 points, so to get out from the relegation zone Rahmatganj badly need full three points.

Baridhara, will have to face a tough challenge to earn points when they will face heavyweights Mohammedan SC.

Muktijodha KC, once one of the giants in the Dhaka Premier League, are in very awkward position when they ae now second last place with 11 points, so they will also face a do or die encounter against Sheikh Russel KC.

Meanwhile, the league leaders and the reigning champions Bashundhara Kings, who are just three points away to make a history confirming their hat-trick championship might be will complete on July 18, after three days interval of league, when they will play Saif Sporting Club.
