All set to kick off the second phase of the TVS Bangladesh Premier League football from today with giants get ready to combat to celebrate the title victory.

The reigning champions Bashundhara Kings and the runners up Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will play their respective matches at different venues.

Banshundhara Kings will take on Sawdhinota Krira Sangha at the Muktijoddha Smriti Stadium, Rajshahi and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will face Uttar Baridhara Club at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium, Gopalganj. Eventually, the second leg is the championship phase of the league as all the contenders are enthusiastically ready to embark on their title winning combat while the mediocre and the bottom sides also get on to enlighten their position.

All the teams, top to bottom have already revived their teams strength with bringing some changes in the squad to make it a fresh the second phase.

However, the holders Bashundara Kings despite to begin the second leg as the table toppers with 26 points, have no way to be stress-free, as they are not beyond reach from the closest contenders Abahani Limited and runners up Sheikh Jamal are breathing on their neck from four and five points behind respectively.

The holders Bashundhara Kings will begin the second leg with taking on the Swadhinota Krira Sangha with a bitter experience, as they suffered only defeat out of 11 first phase encounters at the hands of the newcomers. The Kings began their league campaign with an upsetting 1-2 defeat.

But the Kings looked very cautious before to resume their title defend campaign, as they have already signed up a Latin (Brazilian) midfielder who played in the top flight league in Brazil and a Spanish born Gambian national colour. The defending runners up Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, who finished the first phase on third, five points behind to the table toppers, also made huge  changes in their team eying to remain in the title race.

Sheikh Jamal, former three times champions, bidding to fight for regaining the title recruited a couple of Nigerian strikers apart from bringing back the Nigerian coach Joseph Afusi but they will have to struggle much at least to clinch the second spot at the end of the league when Abahani are one point ahead of them.

Abahani Limited, who celebrated the league title for highest six times, first three editions in a row, could not break their title draught after

losing to Bashundhara Kings in 2018-19 season.

But the traditional Sky-Blue did not make any changes in the team when they bank on their squad they had in the first leg and played in the AFC Cup. Abahani Limited, who began the campaign with an incredible note with winning the season’s inaugural trophies the Independence and the Federation Cup football, keep their confidence on the squad, who helped them to earn the feat.

However, the bottom sides also made huge changes to escape from the relegation zone, so there will be very tough contest among the title contenders and as well among the team of relegation threatened.
