Bourses post marginal loss

Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), closed today extending the downbeat of previous session as most of the investors maintained cautious stance, reports BSS. The broad index, DSEX closed at 4465.89 points on Wednesday with a loss of 13.50 points or 0.30 percent.

Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went down by 7.07 points and 2.01 points to settle at 1519.22 points and 1029.31 points respectively. On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 129,755 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 151.88 million securities.

Losers took a strong lead over gainers as out of 356 issues traded, 104 securities gained price while 183 declined and 69 remained unchanged. The top 10 gainers were Apex Spinning, Mercantile Insurance, Ambee Pharma, Paramount Insurance, Northern Jute, Legacy Footwear, Eastern Cables, Desh Garment, Samata Leather and Gemini Sea Food.

LafargeHolcim Bangladesh topped the turnover chart followed by Golden Harvest, BBS Cables, BSC, ADN Telecom, Coppertech Industries, SS Steel, Northern Jute, Wata Chemicals and KPCL. The top 10 losers were BIFC, RN Spinning, United Air, Zaheen Textile, Tung Hai Knitting, Exim Bank First Mutual Fund, Prime Bank First ICB AMCL Mutual Fund, LafargeHolcim Bangladesh, Nurani Dying and Bengal Windsor. 

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed at red extending the losing streak of previous day. CSCX and CASPI declined by 37.75 points and 63.06 points to stand at 8231.78 points and 13579.54 points respectively.
At CSE, a total of 6,532,965 shares and mutual fund of 235 companies were traded, of which 65 issues advanced while 135 declined and 35 issues remained unchanged.
