Bourses keep extending downbeat

Country’s premier bourse Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed on Tuesday extending the losing streak as worried investors continued their selling binge, reports BSS.

The broad index, DSEX closed at 4506.93 points on Tuesday with a loss of 26.81 points or 0.59 percent.

Besides, the two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and the Shariah index, DSES also went down by 13.13 points and 9.97 points to settle at 1548.37 points and 1012.29 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 102,216 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 109.99 million securities.

Losers took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 353 issues traded, 96 securities gained price while 203 declined and 54 remained unchanged.

The top 10 gainers were Miracle Industries, Greendelta Insurance, Matin Spinning, ML Dying, Daffodil Computer, Reckit Benckiser, SEML FBSL Growth Fund, Shepherd Industries, DBH and Bay Leasing.

Square Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by Saiham Cotton, Sonarbangla Insurance, Sinobangla Industries, Daffodil Computer, Dutch-Bangla Bank, New Line Clothing, Khulna Power, LafargeHolcim Bangladesh and BAT.

The top 10 losers were Sonarbangla Insurance, Saiham Textile, ICB Islami bank, Eastern Insurance, SS Steel, AFC Agro, MI Cement, Mozaffar Hossain Spinning, CAN Textile and BD Welding.

On the other hand, the port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed at red maintaining trend of the previous day. 

CSCX and CASPI declined by 89.95 points and 145.61 points to stand at 8301.45 points and 13683.03 points respectively. At CSE, a total of 10,749,517 shares and mutual fund of 239 companies were traded, of which 60 issues advanced while 143 declined and 36 issues remained unchanged.
