Bourses extend downbeat

Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed today extending the downbeat as the shaky investors took position with cautious stances, reports BSS.

The broad index, DSEX closed at 4533.75 points on Monday with a loss of 62.25 points or 1.35 percent.

Besides, the two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and the Shariah index, DSES also went down by 21.54 points and 19.02 points to settle at 1561.50 points and 1022.27 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 101,917 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 104.00 million securities.

Losers took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 353 issues traded, 67 securities gained price while 233 declined and 53 remained unchanged.

The top 10 gainers were New Line Clothing, Prime Finance First Mutual Fund, Hakkani Pulp, Zaheen Spinning, Kay & Que, Reckit Benckiser, Coppertech, Eastern Cables, Anlima Yarn and Queen South Textile Mills.

Square Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by Sinobangla Industries, Daffodil Computer, BAT, National Tubes, Beacon Pharma, Brac Bank, Premier Bank, Sonarbangla Insurance and Reckit Benckiser.

The top 10 losers were Daffodil Computer, Zahin Tex, Dacca Dying, BBS Cables, Al-haj Tex, Hwa Well Textile, Evince Textiles, Bay Leasing and Investment, Tung Hai Knitting and Bd.Thai Aluminum.

On the other hand, the port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed at red maintaining trend of the previous day.

CSCX and CASPI declined by 93.89 points and 151.00 points to stand at 8391.41 points and 13828.64 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 5,247,042 shares and mutual fund of 237 companies were traded, of which 60 issues advanced while 148 declined and 29 issues remained unchanged.
