Bourses demonstrate modest gain

Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Monday displayed a modest gain as investors’ participation was notable on the both sides of the fence, reports BSS.

The broad index, DSEX closed at 4693.62 points on Monday with a gain of 5.19 points or 0.11 percent.

Besides, the two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 went down marginally by 2.31 points while the Shariah index, DSES up slightly by 0.81 points to settle at 1635.85 points and 1076.64 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 132,206 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 159.47 million securities. Gainers took a strong lead over the losers as out of 336 issues traded, 153 securities gained price while 125 declined and 58 remained unchanged. The top 10 gainers were Saiham Textile, Al-haj Textile, Miracle Industries, Tosrifa Industries, Yeakin Polymer, Regent Textile, Metro Spinning, ACI, Aman Feed and Hamid Fabrics.

Dutch-Bangla Bank topped the turnover chart followed by Fortune Shoes, Asia Insurance, Purabi General Insurance, Beacon Pharma, Grameenphone, Brac Bank, Shurwid, Sonarbangla Insurance and BBS Cables.

The top 10 losers were Fortune Shoes, BD Auto Cars, Bongas, Shyampur Sugar Mills, United Insurance, Emerald Oil, First Finance, Tallu Spinning, Legacy Footwear and Sunlife Insurance.

On the other hand, the port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed at green from the bearish streak of the previous day.

CSCX and CASPI went up by 1.90 points and 4.17 points to stand at 8664.03 points and 14256.41 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 6,731,602 shares and mutual fund of 230 companies were traded, of which 108 issues advanced while 80 declined and 42 issues remained unchanged.
