A new memorandum of understanding for the next ten years was signed between the Bangladesh Open University and the Bangladesh Army on the 10th anniversary of the HSC (NICHE-1) program at the Gazipur campus on Saturday.

Registrar Dr Md Shafiqul Alam on behalf of BOU and Brigadier General Dr Md Rezaul Islam on behalf of Bangladesh Army signed the MoU, according to a press release.

Professor Dr Syed Humayun Akhtar, vice-chancellor of Bangladesh Open University, who was the chief guest at the MoU signing ceremony, emphasized that the mutual cooperation between BOU and the Bangladesh Army will open new fields.

He mentioned that the curriculum for all BOU programs, including the NICHE-1 program, will be web-based and smart to facilitate easier participation in the learning process from any location.

Brigadier General Dr Md Rezaul Islam, director of the Directorate of Education of the Bangladesh Army, expressed gratitude to the vice-chancellor and all those associated with BOU for their continuous cooperation in successfully conducting the program.

He expressed hope that this cooperation would be further strengthened in the future.

The HSC (NICHE-I) program has been a joint initiative between BOU and the Bangladesh Army since the signing of an MoU in 2013.

Over the last 10 batches, 38,394 new soldiers of the Bangladesh Army have been admitted to this program, with 27,910 students passing the final examination as of 2022. The program boasts an average pass rate of around 80%.

All program activities, including registration, fee submission, and result processing, are managed through online software.

The quick publication of examination results through the spot evaluation method was highlighted as one of the unique features of this program.
