Boro harvesting near completion in Narsingdi

Harvesting of Boro paddy is near about completion in all the six upazilas of the district from the first week of May.

Concerned experts, official and farmers are expecting a bumper production of paddy as the crop has grown excellent under favorable climate condition everywhere in the district this year.

The enthusiastic farmers are now busy for harvesting their cash crop. They hope that the prevailing climate condition would help them for harvesting the bumper Boro yields this year.

Deputy Director Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Narsingdi, Mohammad Mahabubur Rashid said that the Agriculture Extension department has fixed a target of producing 2,15,000 tons of Boro rice from 55,300 hectares of land. But production of Boro rice might be cross the target as the farmers finally cultivated 55,350 hectares land in the district. 

Beside the Boro plants grew under favorable climate condition and no major incident of pest attack in the district. He hope that if there is no climate hazard over 2,25,000 tons of Boro rice are expected to be produced in the district this year. 

He said the local DAE provided the farmers with logistic support including seeds and fertilizers and necessary equipment. 

Farmers Abdur Rahman and Haripad Das of Sadar upazila , Abdul Ali and Brijan Roy of Shibpur upazila said they have already near the harvesting their Boro dhan and getting excellent production. They said they will have completed the harvesting within this month.
