Farmers in the district has started Boro farming with much enthusiasm and passing busy time in transplanting Boro rice in their respective land.
DAE sources said about 46000 hectares of land have been brought under Boro cultivation in all five upazilas of the district with the production target of 3,27,000 metric tons of fresh Boro rice. DAE and farmers are expecting bumper Boro production, if the weather condition remains favorable till the harvesting period.
Earlier, the Department of Agriculture extension (DAE) of Panchagarh distributed high yielding Boro seeds, fertilizers among the farmers free of cost. The department has also given training on modern technology to the farmers to achieve the production target. Different commercial bank includes
Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank, NGOs has also given short term loans on easy term during the season to facilitate the cultivation.
Deputy director of DAE Md, Rias Uddin told BSS that the field level Agriculture officers are monitoring the Boro field and giving necessary advice to the farmers to avert pest attack on Boro field.
