As the situation has improved, five government primary schools in the Bangladesh-Myanmar border area in Ghumdhum Union under Naikhongchari Upazila in Bandarban district reopened on Wednesday after a 24-day closure.
The turmoil in Myanmar forced the temporary closure of those schools.
According to Triratan Chakma, the Naikhongchari Upazila Primary Education Officer, the five government primary schools that were temporarily closed at the Ghumdhum border will resume regular classes starting next Wednesday. He confirmed the matter on Monday and says this is because the situation has normalised.
Because of the border situation, primary schools were closed at noon on January 29 reopened again on January 30, and continued until February 4. In the border regions on the other side, intense shelling and bombings caused fear, and on February 5, a mortar shell fired from Myanmar killed two people, including a woman from Bangladesh.

As a result of the border situation normalizing, the five primary schools that were temporarily closed will reopen on Wednesday, according to Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Shah Mojahid Uddin.
