Dozens of low-income group people rushed towards the drain situated in front of Railway Officers' Mess of the city to pick-up money of various denominations floating on drain-water Saturday morning.

Most of the floating money is of Taka 1,000, 500, 100, 20, 10 and 5 denominations.

By hearing the news of floating money in drain-water, a large number of people thronged beside the drain and many of them were also seen to step down inside the drain to search and pluck the money. However, the number of people getting money from the drain is very small.

Some people opined someone might have thrown the money to the drain to create inquisitiveness and fun among people while others said, someone might have thrown their money earned illegally or by resorting to corruption.

Tulu, a scavenger, had kept the money he gathered from the drain in his pocket. He informed the money was floating and being drained out in rainwater from the west side of the Officer's Mess towards the east side.
