A 33-member Bangladesh national football team returned Dhaka on Thursday night after completing the tri-nation tournament, which was held in Nepal from March 23-29. Jamal Bhuyan & Co failed to clinch the title.

The Red and Green ended as the runners-up after conceding a 1-2 goal defeat to the hosts Nepal in the final at Dasharath Rangasala on March 29.

Bangladesh reached the final beating Kyrgyzstan U-23s by 1-0 goal in the opening match on March 23 and played a goalless draw against Nepal in the second game on March 27. Booters broke the heart to the fan of the football lovers of the country.

“There were two sloppy goals; they didn’t pass the ball quick enough or with any purpose and did not create enough chances,” Coach Jamie Day said. He urged the authority concerned to restructure the domestic league.

“I think the problem is never going to change. I said so many times that if we don’t change the league structure and if we don’t care for the local players playing in the right positions, it is never going to change.
