Booters keen to win home match

Bangladesh will play their crucial home match against Palestine today in the Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 2 match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027.

The match will take place at the Bashundhara Kings area at 3:30pm.

After suffering a massive 5-0 defeat to Palestine in the away match, Bangladesh are looking forward of motivation for Today’s home match at home ground and in front of home crowd and the booters eagerly want to win the match.

The Bashundhara Kings Arena has so far been a lucky venue for the Men in Red and Green, when they have not yet lost in four international matches in this ground, they played two friendlies against Afghanistan in September last year. Both of those matches ended in draws before the hosts beat Maldives and then drew against Lebanon in the Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 1.

The results against Palestine could not be attributed to the constant improvement in performance of the team since the SAFF Championship in the last year.

As most of the Bashundhara Kings players are playing for the national team, the ground is very much familiar to large portion of players, so it ca be expected good performances at this venue from the players.

Besides the home advantage Bangladesh players will have another favour condition and the match will be held under natural light, as the Palestine team may face difficulties in hot and humid weather in Dhaka.

Midfielder Sohel Rana, who missed the previous match due to suspension, told the media, “We could not do many things in the away match and we want to forget it. Now we are looking forward to our own performances which we usually display on home ground. We will definitely try out best in front of our home crowd.”

Bangladesh fought neck and neck with Palestine for the first 40 minutes in Kuwait with almost the same intensity as the opposition but it looked mysteriously Bangladesh lost their tempo and conceded four goals inside 10 minutes 43-53 and another was on 76th.

Sohel admitted that silly mistakes in defence hurt them heavily and that they are trying to rectify those issues in training.
