Students in Bogura have held a human chain and assembly protesting the increase in form fees for the 3rd-year Honours under the National University. Defying the rain, students from Government Azizul Haque College and Government Shah Sultan College participated in the program at the city's Satmatha at 12:30 PM on Thursday.
Chanting various slogans demanding the withdrawal of the additional fee, the students also chanted slogans calling the Vice-Chancellor of the National University "fake." The students stated that business and education cannot go together and that the increased fee in the name of reform will not be accepted. They issued an ultimatum that if the increased fee is not withdrawn by November 2, a larger movement will be launched from Bogura.
Speeches were given by students Zakir Hossain, Shihab Ud Doula, Isha, Tanu, and others. They said, "Previously the form fee was 1200 Taka, but this time, in the name of reform, it has been increased to 2000 Taka. This has increased the expenses for students. Such irregularities will not be accepted in any way."
