In Bogura, the local parliament member and Deputy Commissioner initiated the paddy cutting festival by cutting the paddy of the farmer's land. Bogura-1 MP Shahdara Mannan and Deputy Commissioner Saiful Islam cut the paddy of farmer's land at the inauguration of the crop cutting festival in Sariakandi Upazila on Thursday. Agriculture officials and public representatives were present at the time.
On the occasion of the harvest festival, the Agriculture Department organized an inauguration ceremony in the morning at Phulbari area of Sariakandi Upazila. At this time, the guests including members of parliament, deputy commissioner and deputy director of agriculture department cut the paddy of a farmer named Sanaul Islam. The scene of paddy harvesting made the farmers happy. Mentioning the good yield of paddy in this region, they advised the farmers to harvest ripe paddy before any natural calamity occurs.
Boro paddy cutting ceremony was attended by Agriculture Extension Department Bogura Deputy Director Agriculturist Matlubar Rahman, Acting Upazila Executive Officer Sujan Kumar Basak, Mayor Matiur Rahman Moti, Upazila Agriculture Officer Abdul Halim, Fulbari UP Chairman Tariq Mohammad and many others.
Meanwhile, Bogura Deputy Commissioner Saiful Islam said that Bogura has now become a grain storehouse because of the timely delivery of seeds and fertilizers to the farmers. There will be more production this year than last year, we will be able to supply the produce to other districts by meeting the demand of the district. The market will be constantly monitored to ensure that the farmers get a fair price of paddy during this season, so that no third party can take any advantage.
MP Shahdara Mannan said that a letter has already been given to the concerned department to set up a cold store for crops in Bogura. A cold store is expected to be set up in Bogura next year. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the government is working for the welfare of agriculture and farmers.
