Body recovered from Dudhkumar river

Police recovered the body of an 85-year-old man from the Dudhkumar river in Bhurungamari of Kurigram. 

On Monday morning, locals found the body of the old man floating in the Dudhkumar river about 1.5 km south of Pateshwari Bridge in the upazila. Police later recovered the body.

The deceased was identified as Shamser Al of Vitarband union of Nageshwari upazila. Residents of Pateshwari Bridge Par area said that the old man was seen in Sonahat Bridge Par area on Sunday. He ate at a hotel there. In conversation with the locals, the old man gave his address.

Locals said the old man did not want to return home and stayed at the mosque at night. Later in the morning, his body was found floating in the Dudhkumar river.

Bhurungamari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Atiyar Rahman said the body was believed to be that of Shamser Ali. His home is in Jamtala village of Vitarband union in Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram district.
