Mystery has shrouded the death of a ninth grade student of Manikganj Government SK Girls’ High School in the district town. The body of the girl student was recovered from Kaliganga river two days after she went missing.
Police recovered the body from Talappa Ghat of the river in Kusher Char area of Ward No. 9 of Manikganj Municipality around 11:00 am on Monday and sent it to Manikganj 250-bed sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The ill-fated girl identified as Samia Islam (15) is the daughter of Saiful Islam of Parchanga village of Chandina upazila of Comilla. Saiful Islam, a lineman of Manikganj Polli Bidyut Somity lives at South Sewta area in the town with his family.
Quoting the deceased’s family, Officer in charge of Sadar Police Station Md. Habil Hossain said, the victim Samia went out from their house on Saturday evening for a coaching centre and since then he was missing. Later, Saiful Islam made a general diary of Sadar police station on the same day.
On information, police from Sadar Police station rushed to the spot and recovered the dead body from the Kaliganga River in floating condition.
Victim’s family member alleged that after killing the minor girl in another place, criminals may dump the body in the river. Police could not find out the reason behind the killing, immediately.
The OC Habil Hossain said, police are trying their best to finding-out real cause behind the death. The motive of the killing was snatched which will come to light after getting a post mortem report, the OC added.
“We would be able to know the actual motive behind the killings only after investigation,” the OC added. Replying to a query, the officer said he has found some important clues, but he would not disclose any details for the sake of the investigation. A case has been filed with Sadar police station in this regard.
