Police have recovered the body of a school teacher from the Ghaghat River in Sadar upazila of Gaibandha.
The body was recovered on Tuesday afternoon by the members of Sadar Police Station.
The dead, Tasmin Ara Naz, 43, was the daughter of Nazir Hossain from Purbo Komor Noi Mia Para area in Gaibandha Sadar. She was an assistant teacher at Gaibandha NH Modern Government Primary School. She was unmarried.
According to locals, the teacher left her home early in the morning on Tuesday. Later in the afternoon, her body was found floating in the river, prompting locals to inform the police. Law enforcers then recovered the body from the scene.
Abu Iqbal Pasha, Inspector (Operations) of Sadar Police Station, said, "We have recovered the body from the Ghaghat River. It has been confirmed that she was a teacher at a government primary school. Further details will be known after investigation and autopsy."
Gaibandha Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahinur Islam Talukder said legal proceedings are underway following the recovery.
