The body of a newborn baby was discovered wrapped in polythene beside the railway tracks near Mandabhag Station in Kasba, Brahmanbaria. The tragic discovery was made around 11 PM on Monday night.

According to eyewitnesses, several stray dogs were seen barking at a red polythene bag near the railway line, drawing the attention of nearby pedestrians. Out of curiosity, a few people approached the scene and, upon opening the bag, found the lifeless body of a newborn inside. The local railway police were immediately informed through community representatives.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Akhaura Railway Junction Police Station, S.M. Shafiqul Islam, stated that initial observations suggest the baby may have been born on the same day. However, it remains unclear whether the baby was stillborn or died after birth. A post-mortem examination will be required to determine the cause and time of death.

The body has been sent to the district hospital morgue for autopsy. Police have launched an investigation to identify those responsible for abandoning the newborn in such a manner.
