Body of missing person recovered in Karimganj

Police have recovered the mutilated body of a missing person in Karimganj upazila of Kishoreganj. The body was recovered from the head to the waist but the lower part from the waist has not been found yet. The deceased was identified as Matiur Rahman (55) The body was recovered from a cemetery in Sultannagar village of the upazila on Friday (May 27) afternoon. The deceased was identified as Matiur, son of late Taher Uddin of the village. He was a hotel employee by profession. However, no GD has been lodged with Karimganj police station regarding the disappearance, police said.

According to police and the victim's family, Matiur worked in Haresh Miah hotel in Marichkhali Bazar of the upazila. He is the father of four children. The first wife died seven years ago. He got married for the second time on May 20 in Gangatia village of Gundhar union. He had been living in his father-in-law's house since his marriage. He left home last Tuesday. He has been missing since then. Locals found his mutilated body in a cemetery in the area on Friday morning. When the locals informed the Karimganj police, the police went to the spot and recovered his body.

Karimganj Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shamsul Alam Siddiqui said police recovered the mutilated body from the spot. 

The autopsy has been sent to the morgue of Kishoreganj 250-bed General Hospital for autopsy. An inquest report has been prepared. The incident is believed to be a premeditated murder.
