Body of Bir Uttam CR Dutta reached the country

The body of Major General (Retd.) Chitta Ranjan (CR) Dutta Bir Uttam, Commander of Sector 4 and Founder President of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Parishad during the War of Liberation, has reached Dhaka from the United States.

His body was flown home on an Emirates flight at 8:48 am on Monday (August 31).

Relatives and dignitaries received CR Dutta’s body at Shahjalal International Airport. His body will then be taken from the airport to the CMH mortuary.

His body will be taken to the DOHS home tomorrow. After that, the body will be taken to Dhakeswari temple at 8 am to pay respects. Various organizations and political parties of the country will pay homage to him there. Later, the last rites will be held at Sri Sri Bardeswari Kalimata Temple in Basabo-Sabujbagh.

A National Citizens Committee has been formed to pay last respects to CR Dutta. The 1001-member committee has been formed with former army chief, Major General (Retd) KM Shafiullah, one of the sector commanders of the liberation war, as the convener and eminent journalist-intellectual Shahriar Kabir as the member secretary.

According to the committee, proper preparations are being made for his funeral with the highest military honors and due state honors.
