Body formed over ragging at IU

The authority of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia formed a Five-member probe body to investigate the incident of ragging with a fresher female student at Deshratna Sheikh Hasina Hall on the campus. A press release was signed by IU acting registrar HM Ali Hasan, who said the matter.  

The probe body, led by Professor Dr Reba Mondol, chairman of law department, and the other probe members on the committee are- IU Sheikh Rasel hall provost Professor Dr Debashish Sharma, Khaleda Zia hall provost Professor Dr Yeasmin Ara Sathi, assistant proctor Professor Dr Murshid Alam and M Alibuddin Khan, deputy registrar of academic section.

The university authorities instructed the probe body to investigate the incident properly and asked them to submit their investigation reports within seven days.

Mentioned, a fresher student of the Finance and Banking department of the university was allegedly harassed and tortured, by Sanzida Chawdhury Antora, vice-president of Bangladesh Chhatra League of IU wing on Sunday night.

Later, the victim submits a written complaint to the university administration including the university’s proctor, student advisor, and the hall provost seeking the exemplary punishment of the accused on Tuesday. In the complaint, the vice-president allegedly harassed and tortured, both mentally and physically, the fresher female student.

Meanwhile, the accused BCL leader proffered a written complaint to the university’s proctor and student advisor on Tuesday.
