Three persons were died by boat capsize on Monday afternoon at Sohila hoar in Itna Upazila. They were identified by Md. Masud Mia (25) son of Md. Mustafa of village Damiahati under Tarail, Siraj Uddin (35) son of Abdul Aziz and Wasim (42) son of Late Soudagar of village Halgora under Karimganj upazila of the district. Others two passenger saved their lives by swimming.
Local sources said, On Monday afternoon, a boat carrying tree branches was heading to Dhanpur from Tarail upazila. The boat sank when it was hit by a storm in the middle of Sahila-Dhanpur haor of Itna upazila.
Upon receiving the news, the police and fire service divers started the rescue operation. The boat, which sank a short distance from the spot, was recovered around 9:30 am on Tuesday. The bodies of three missing persons were recovered from the boat at that time.
Officer-in-Charge Inta Police Station Kamrul Islam Mollah confirmed the news and deadbody was handed over their family without autopsy.
