BOA happy over organising the event: Shahed Reza

Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Syed Shahed Reza is highly satisfied with successfully organizing the Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games which concluded on Saturday. 

Shahed Reza, who has been serving as the secretary general of the mother organization of Bangladesh sports BOA for the last three terms, expressed his contentment while talking to the Bangladesh Post on Sunday, following the successful ending of the Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games 2023.

Reza, while sharing his experiences of organising the country’s biggest sports extravaganza, said, “Really I am happy to see it a successful composition with the hard and wonderful team work and support from all the federations, district and divisional organizers, former athletes, especially Bangladesh Army,  government administration and all the services teams.”

“Actually it’s too early to assess the outcome, as just yesterday the games was over, now all are tired of working hard for the last one week. We will sit in a meeting very soon to discuss all, but we are happy for making it a happy ending,” Mr Reza said. 

“You know, I moved from one venue to another to observe disciplines whether everything was going on perfectly or not. Alhamdulillah, I found nothing wrong. But I can tell you this time it was more organised and disciplined than the first edition,” said Shaed Reza replying to a query.   

“It’s true, we are having the feedback of organising the Games, the biggest and solid platform of talent hunt.”   

Shahed Reza, who is eagerly eyeing to organise the Bangladesh Games in 2025, also expressed his high hope to maintain the continuity of organising Sheikh Kamal Youth Games every four years interval.

Shahed also said, “Through this Games future athletes are producing, some of the good performers of the first edition are now the leading athletes of different events”.

“Through organising this Youth Games, I believe that we would have talented athletes who will be our future stars. Some of the athletes, who were picked up from the first edition, are now leading their respective organisations and are also representing the country in the international stage. It is the biggest and a wonderful platform to hunt talents from the grass roots.”  

“I have every belief if the federations concentrate and could pick the real talents from this competitions, the pipeline will be stronger to have enough athletes for future, federations will have to groom up the selected athletes with proper nursing,” Reza explained the feedback of organising the games.”

“Through this competition, it’s clear to all the federations and the district organisers that it will no more easy to be the winners, they will have to face huge challenges, and this competitive attitude is very positive for having the real talents.”  

Reza, who had visited different venues every day, also detailed to the Bangladesh Post about the outcome of organising the games and said, “I expect that in future we will have skilled athletes, who will do well in the international arena. The talented athletes who will be picked up from this competition, we will bring them under higher training process. We have good future in some disciplines. Overall you can say we are getting good feedback from this games.”
