Bangladesh Nritya Shilpi Shangstha (BNSS), in association with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), has organised a weeklong event on the premises of BSA at the capital’s Segun Bagicha to celebrate the International Dance Day.

The event that kickedoff on Monday will come to an end on Sunday next.

Earlier on April 23, DG of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky and dance guru Amanul Haque inaugurated the weeklong event.

As a part of the celebration of International Dance Day which falls on April 29, a daylong programme has been chalked out featuring seminar, rally, discussion, dance show and honouring veteran dance artistes.

The programme began yesterday morning at 8:00am by a Mangal dance performance. An award ceremony followed by a cultural event will be held later. A dance artiste will be bestowed with the Nritya Gurumata Rahijha Khanam Jhunu Memorial Award. Bangladesh Dance Artistes’ Association introduced the award last year after the name of late eminent dance artiste Rahijha Khanam Jhunu who passed away on November 27 in 2017.

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid attended the award ceremony as the chief guest.
