He said, 'The father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman called for independence from Suhrawardy Udyan on March 7, 1971. That is why BNP does not like this field. They want to make a mess in Dhaka city.'
The information minister said this in a speech delivered on the eve of the Prime Minister's speech at the Awami League President Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's public meeting organized by the Chittagong Metropolitan, North and South District Awami League at Chittagong Polo Ground on Sunday (December 4). Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League Acting President Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury presided over the meeting.
Dr Hasan said, today a wave of people has woken up in the entire Chittagong city. It is as if the wave of people has become one with Chittagong by the sea. And the colorful six on the polo ground has become the six of the rainbow today. Eight to ten times the number of people in this public meeting, millions of people are staying outside the meeting place.
He said, in the last 14 years, this Chittagong has changed under the magical leadership of Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Bangabandhu. A few days later our leader is going to inaugurate the first road tunnel under the river in South Asia. He has already announced the end of physical work.
Highlighting the development of Chittagong under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the Information Minister said that Chittagong has changed today. Another port twice the size of Chittagong Port is going to be built by 'Bay Terminal'. The construction of the deep sea port at Qutubdia is almost complete. A few days ago, the Prime Minister announced that there will be metro rail in Chittagong, the railway will run under the subway. In the last 14 years, development activities worth more than lakhs of rupees have taken place in this Chittagong. In the next few days, more lakhs of rupees will be developed in this Chittagong. Bangabandhu is going to become an industrial and economic zone along with Sitakunda-Mirsrai, it is going to become another Chittagong city.
Awami League joint general secretary Hashan Mahmud said, 'Chittagong has changed, Bangladesh has changed. Today you don't see people with bare feet, you don't see people with torn clothes. The hut is not visible even from the sky. This was not due to any magic, it was due to the magical leadership of People's Leader Sheikh Hasina. BNP and its allies do not like them.'
