Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hassan Mahmood said, ‘When there is someone in the ocean, they try to see a light to survive. The situation of BNP is exactly like that. I hope BNP will be able to get out of the tunnel.’

The minister was responding to a question from reporters after speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of CMSME Trade Fair 2022 organized by Chittagong Women's Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Shaheed Sheikh Russell Park in Pahartali, Chattogram on Friday evening.

Replying to a question on the statement of BNP Vice Chairman Major Hafiz Uddin Ahmed that 'BNP movement is now at the last stage of the tunnel, they can see the light from inside', the Information Minister said, that BNP is trying to see the light for several years now. I hope BNP Will be able to come out and play a role in consolidating the democracy of the country as a true political party.’

Answering the claim of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir that, "The government is running the country depending on the police, the police is the only power of the government, Dr Hasan Mahmud said that the Awami League never believes in the politics of conspiracy, never believes in government power. Rather, the BNP believes in the politics of arms and oppression. Ziaur Rahman seized power by leaning on arms and standing on corpses, surviving by standing on corpses. Begum Khaleda Zia also came to power through conspiracy and survived in power through conspiracy. The Awami League does not believe in that.

Dr Hasan said the people are the foundation of Bangladesh Awami League. Reviewing the history, it is seen that Awami League has always come to power with the verdict of the people. The independence of the country came under the leadership of Awami League through the hands of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. All the achievements of the country have been achieved under the leadership of Bangladesh Awami League. Today, Bangladesh has taken a seat of dignity with the hand of Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Earlier, at the inaugural function of Chittagong Trade Fair, the Information and Broadcasting Minister said that the way in which  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took the lead in the struggle for the rights of the people of the country is an example not only in the history of the country but also in world history. When the Prime Minister recently visited India and met Priyanka Gandhi, she hugged Sheikh Hasina and said, "You are an inspiration for my life."

On the overall role of women, he said that 70 percent of the world's work is done by women. And women have played a significant role in moving our country forward. 10 years ago, no one ever thought that a woman could be DC, SP, UNO. Now women are ambassadors, judges of the affiliate division in the women's high court, women are the secretaries at the ministry. Women are moving forward holding the hand of public leader Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Eighty percent of primary school teachers are women.

Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mahbubul Alam, Chairman of Bangladesh Rubber Board Syeda Sarwar Jahan, Women Entrepreneur Nooran Fatima, Ali Saber, Chairman of Trade Fair Committee Rekha Alam Chowdhury spoke as special guests on the occasion.
