BNP wants to sabotage election: Info Minister

Published : 09 Jan 2022 09:54 PM

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said that the BNP actually wants to sabotage the election by not taking part in the President's dialogue.

Dr Hasan said, "The President has organized a dialogue to form an election commission based on the views of all through a transparent process which the BNP has never done. The BNP will not go into that dialogue and is spreading various propaganda against the dialogue because in fact the aim of the BNP is to frustrate the next election. They are conspiring to sabotage the next election in the same way that they wanted to sabotage the 2014 election and conspire in the 2016 election. But the people of the country will not give them that opportunity.”

The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of Din Badal Mela organized by Poster Cultural Parliament and Vajrakantha Sangathan at Dhaka University Student-Teacher Center TSC on Sunday afternoon.

The poster was presided over by SM Jamal Uddin Yusuf, President of Cultural Parliament and conducted by Golam Rabbani Bablu, General Secretary of Dhaka University. Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman was the inaugural speaker, Asim Kumar Ukil, Cultural Secretary, Awami League, Sujit Roy Nandi, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary, was the special guest and Md Shah Alam Murad, Former General Secretary, Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League was the guest speaker.

The Information Minister said, "Today has changed but many people do not like this change. The people of the country are good, it is not the choice of many. When we started the construction of the Padma Bridge under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Begum Khaleda Zia and the BNP leaders said that the Awami League could not do it, if they came to power they would build two Padma bridges together. Now it has become Padma Bridge. The Prime Minister drove over the Padma Bridge a few days ago and went from one end to the other. Now waiting for the official inauguration. And we are waiting for those who said there would be no Padma Bridge to drive over the Padma Bridge, or to see if the Awami League's brand boat goes from one side to the other.'

Dr Hasan Mahmud said that BNP go to the airport through the flyover and say there is no development in the country. This reckless politics must stop. In the last 13 years, the country could have gone much further if it had not for the destructive politics of BNP-Jamaat and their allies, the politics of killing people by throwing petrol bombs, the politics of blockading people day after day and the anti-politics of spreading propaganda against the country at home and abroad. After 10 years from today, Bangladesh wants to make Bangladesh a country of upper middle income by 2031 and golden Bengal of Bangabandhu's dream of advanced and prosperous by 2041. If we want to reach the address of that dream, this anti-politics must end. '

Stating that political stability is needed to move the country forward, the minister said, "If the spirit of independence is to be upheld, at the same time, if the pro-liberation forces are not in power, there is no doubt that this poetry reading session and culture will be practiced in the future." If the pro-liberation forces, especially the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are not in charge of running the country, then the cultural organizations of the country will be strangled. Because BNP-Jamaat has formed an alliance with those who want to make this country a Taliban state. I would urge the cultural organizations to create a cultural mass tide across the country to spread awareness among the people so that this evil power can be eradicated and eradicated forever. Then we will be able to connect the new generation with our abhorrent culture, at the same time keeping them free from drug addiction and fundamentalism-addiction.

Adviser of Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League Kamal Chowdhury, former president of Dhaka Metropolitan Chhatra League ABM Ashraful Islam Maruf, Special PP Advocate Md. Forkan Miah, Awami League Publicity and Publication Sub-Council Member Sujan Haldar, General Secretary of Bangabandhu Cultural Alliance Arun Sarkar Rana and Convener of Mela Udjapan Parishad Bir Muktijoddha Sarkar Ali Asgar addressed the function as welcome speakers. Dr. recited poems among poets and writers. Shahadat Hossain Nipu, Asim Saha, Aslam Sunny, Anjana Saha, Tapan Bagchi, Rahim Shah, Bappi Rahman, Yusuf Reza and others.
