Information Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud said, 'BNP is walking on the path of terrorism and anarchy and their MPs are resigning to obstruct democracy in the country.'
He said, "Yesterday also the leaders and workers of BNP clashed with common people at different places, set fire to motorcycles, vandalized them, that is, the party that nurtures terrorism, anarchy, arson could not come out of there."
He said all this during an exchange of views with journalists at the secretariat on Sunday afternoon.
Regarding the resignation of BNP MPs, the minister said, BNP has a total of 7 MPs. They said they will demand the resignation of the government, they will remove the government on the 10th, now it appears that they are removing themselves, that is, they have announced their resignation. As evidenced by this announcement, they actually want to force the democratic system. There will be no loss to the parliament or the government through this resignation, the loss will be to the BNP.
Hasan Mahmud said, "It does not matter if 7 MPs resign in the Parliament where there are 350 MPs." According to the rules there should be a by-election. However, the way that BNP could speak in the parliament was closed for them. Mirza Fakhrul Sahib was elected as MP, but he could not take oath due to their high command.
BNP has suffered rather than this. If an eloquent leader like him was in the parliament, then BNP would have benefited. In response to a question about BNP's yesterday's rally, the Broadcasting Minister said, "They have gathered more than 50,000 people after talking about a rally of 1 million people.
Because they liked the field where the cow market sits and its area is 50,000 square feet. A person standing crammed requires at least 3 square feet of area.
So it is easy to imagine how many people are in that field. Many times there are more people than this in our police station conference.
Regarding BNP's 10 points, the minister said, 'BNP said a one-point demand after December 10. Now I can see 10 points. I have seen the claims, they are traditional, have been saying for a long time, just inserted some new claims.
That is, BNP could not avoid the path of terror and anarchy. Until they come back from that path, there will be no good for BNP. Calling a mass rally on the 24th seems like a disaster, on this day the National Council of Bangladesh Awami League. I think it is bad luck to call a rally all over the country on that day.
In response to a question about the comments of foreign states and diplomats, the Information Minister said, "It is inappropriate to take our own political dilemmas, political differences and political competition to others. At the same time, diplomats must adhere to the Geneva Conventions. And there is no pressure on us, we always believe in people power. No foreign power put us in power, no foreign power can change the power of this country. The people own the power of this country, we are strong in the power of the people.
BNP has again said that they will not participate in the elections without a caretaker government - the minister said, 'Elections are one more year away. But the BNP's words were proven wrong, they said they would not go outside Nayapaltan but finally went to the Golap Bagh field where the cow market is located.
