BNP's organising secretary Mahbuber Rahman Shamim has said that the leaders and activists of the BNP, its organs and associate organisations will stand by the Sanatan peoples in celebrating the Durga Puja in a festive atmosphere and without any hindrance.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a meeting with the Mahanagar Puja Udjapan Parishad, representatives of various temples and ward BNP leaders organized by the Chattogram Metropolitan BNP at the Kazir Dewri Zia Museum Auditorium in the city on Monday afternoon.
Stating that we are all Bangladeshis, not the majority or the minority, he said that the Durga Puja is the biggest religious festival of the Sanatanis. All the Sanatanis come together in this festival. This Durga Puja has become a gathering of the Sanatanis. Since historical times, people of all religions have been freely celebrating their respective religious festivals in this country. This year will be no exception. BNP leaders at all levels will be on the field to celebrate the Durga Puja in a festive atmosphere and peacefully. Meanwhile, on the instructions of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, BNP volunteer teams have been formed at the union, ward, police station, district and metropolitan levels on the occasion of the Durga Puja. They will work in coordination with the local Puja Udjapan Parishad to conduct the puja smoothly. Therefore, a BNP monitoring team will be formed to ensure that there are no problems. BNP believes in communal harmony. After August 5, BNP leaders and activists stood shoulder to shoulder with traditional brothers and sisters. The peaceful puja was celebrated last year, and it will be the same this year too.
Mahbuber Rahman Shamim said that various conspiracies have started regarding the upcoming national elections. The fallen government and those who do not want elections are conspiring on Durga Puja. As a result, everyone should be careful. In no way will communal evil forces be given a chance. BNP, which believes in Bangladeshi nationalism, is determined to provide security to people of all religions. Everyone has the right to security, regardless of their religion.
Chattogram Metropolitan BNP Convener Ershad Ullah said, this Chattogram is the Chattogram of communal harmony. My father had a very good relationship with the people of the Hindu community. We all celebrated Puja and Eid together. So if we do not have to provide security on Eid, why should we provide security on Puja? Who is working behind this? Who is destroying communal harmony, we need to find out. BNP is a party of the masses. BNP believes in the freedom of all people. We were, are and will be by the side of our Hindu brothers.
