Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a 27-point outline of ‘structural reform of the state’, proposing radical changes to the state system including balancing the executive powers of the president, prime minister and cabinet, and introducing the upper house of the legislature. The outline was prepared in line with the late president and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman's 19 points and BNP's 'Vision-2030' declared by its chairperson Khaleda Zia, party standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said at a press conference in the city on Monday.

Country’s most national dailies on Tuesday ran the story in details while television channels broadcast the BNP’s press conference on Monday night. BNP leaders are making ill efforts to create confusion in people’s mind by announcing 27-point outline. It is apprehended that the party is out to destabilise the country with an aim to execute their evil design. It is now a question that whether the party wants to bring back military dictator Ziaur Rahman’s martial democracy era in the name of reforming the state.

The pro-liberation forces

must get united and work

 with determination to

build a smart Bangladesh

After the assassination of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family on August 15, 1975, a conspiracy had been hatched for long 21 years to make Bangladesh a failed state. BNP had betrayed with the 1971 Liberation War by sharing its power with the anti-liberation forces.

It is now clear that BNP does not respect the country’s Constitution. So, being imbued with the spirit of the Liberation War, we will never accept “any model” for democracy imposed by any foreign countries.

The elections will be held in the country like in other democratic countries across the globe. Therefore, BNP leaders should take part in elections shaking off the thought of the ‘structural reform of the state' and caretaker government from their heads.

The BNP leaders say the ruling Awami League has destroyed the state structure, and it needs to be repaired and rebuilt. But, all know that BNP-Jamaat destroyed the country and Bangabandhu’s worthy daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been repairing it. The BNP is getting derailed from the country’s mainstream politics day by day due to its patron and nurture of communalism, extremism and anti-liberation forces.

We all will have to remain alert about anti-constitutional activities and plots against the country’s Liberation War and independence. The pro-liberation forces must get united and work with determination to build a smart Bangladesh.
