Panic has gripped people living in the capital Dhaka as Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leaders are adamant to hold their much-talked-about grand rally in front of their Nayapaltan party office tomorrow (Saturday). On the other hand, leaders and activists of Awami League vowed to block them on the streets.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) officials have said the BNP must hold rallies wherever permission is given. Therefore, city people are in a state of tension as they fear unpleasant incidents might take place during the programmes of the two major political parties.BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said nothing can prevent their party from holding the planned grand rally in the capital on October 28 while AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday said BNP is deliberately creating panic among people in the name of the so-called rally. Country’s people expect a free and fair election with the participation of all political parties to be held in a peaceful environment. But BNP is hatching plots to spoil the polls. Stable law and order is a pre-requisite for the people’s safety and security. So, police will have to beef up security in order to ensure people’s safety.

Besides, they must guard houses, government and non-government structures, educational institutions and business establishments in the capital. Police patrol teams must be deployed in different areas from right now and the teams will work in coordination with different law enforcement agencies and private security teams.
Security will also have to be beefed up in all under construction mega projects and key point installations (KPIs) in order to keep them safe and secure. Besides, the stringent security measures will also have to be taken for smooth implementation of project and thwart any evil plans by the vested elements.
We want to establish a peaceful society where there will be no jealousy -hatred-conflict. We are respectful to the Constitution. We believe in the rule of law. We believe the people’s mandate is only way to changeover the power.
We welcome any peaceful democratic movement. But, we do not tolerate destructive activities on illogical demands.
