Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmood said to BNP, 'Please don't try to push the government any more. BNP's back was broken on December 10, if it tries to push again, its legs will be broken.'

He stated this in his speech as a special guest at the 'Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Homecoming Day' organized by Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League at Shah Ali Eidgah Maidan in the capital's Mirpur on Wednesday afternoon.

Dr Hasan said, 'Today, under the leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh is advancing at an unprecedented speed towards the fulfillment of Bangabandhu's dream. A few days ago the IMF (International Monetary Fund) gave a report - the economy of Bangladesh is now the 35th in the world. When we formed the government in 2009, the country was 60th. In the last 14 years, under the leadership of people's leader Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, we have left behind many countries including Malaysia, Singapore and Pakistan long ago. He said, 'BNP-Khaleda Zia-Mirza Fakhrul do not like this development. Therefore, they want to throw away the government which, the leader who today turns the wheel of development into a running wheel and is taking the country forward on the highway of development. They wanted to push on December 10, but Awami League is not a party that falls under any shock, but the one who pushes falls. The 10th is the proof.'

"When BNP pushed us on December 10, they fell and moved from Nayapaltan to cow market, so today they have changed their tune", Dr Hasan said

Referring to this, Minister Dr Hasan said, "Today, Mirza Abbas has said that we do not want to push any government away." In other words, they tried to push and realized that their backs were broken on December 10. So now it has come to the line, what is said - we will see off the government through fair elections.'

Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud said, 'BNP has now given a program on 16th they will hold a mass rally. We are on the streets, we will not leave the streets, we will stay on the streets. Because Awami League was born in this street. And BNP was born in cantonments, through conspiracies. I will not let anyone take over the streets.'

On the occasion of Bangabandhu's Homecoming Day, the Information and Broadcasting Minister said, 'January 10, 1972, the day Father of the Nation Bangabandhu was released from Pakistan prison and entered Bangladesh, that day our independence was complete. When Bangabandhu was assassinated on August 15, 1975, our economic growth rate was 9.54 percent. We have not broken that record till date.'

Awami League's Dhaka Metropolitan North Branch President Sheikh Bajlur Rahman and general secretary SM Mannan Kochi chaired the meeting as the chief guest, the party's general secretary, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader and the party's presidium member and agriculture minister as special guests. Md. Abdur Razzak, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Aminul Islam Amin, State Minister for Industries Alhaj Kamal Ahmed Majumdar, brave freedom fighter Aga Khan Mintu MP etc.
