Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) are desperately trying to destroy the country’s peace and order ahead of the next general elections. They want to unleash a reign of terror by carrying out terrorism and violence in the name of movement across the country again.
Activists of the BNP set fire to motorbike, damaged public and private establishments in different places of the country in the last few days. Needless to say, BNP’s movement, mass procession and rally always cause panic among the people.
The party will hold its grand rally at BNP Nayapaltan central office in the capital Dhaka today afternoon (Friday) in order to expedite its ongoing movement. All the peace-loving people always welcome any political party’s peaceful movement, rally, meeting and procession in a democratic country like Bangladesh. But people think BNP’s senior leaders along with anti-liberation forces have been sketching a ‘blue print’ since long in a planned way to foil the country’s next parliamentary elections at any cost. Party’s senior leaders’ statements are also indicating that they are out to grab the state power through clandestine alleyways.
The government should
take steps to provide
security to general people
during BNP’s programme
All political parties in a democratic country like Bangladesh have the right to do politics in a systemic and constructive way. BNP, one of the major political parties in the country is also enjoying its democratic rights to do politics in Bangladesh. As the ruling Awami League always believes in “peaceful democratic movement,” it has been showing unlimited patience and tolerance even after various provocations by the BNP leaders.
The horror of one of the worst arson attack in modern history committed by the leaders and activists of BNP-Jamaat clique during its rule or in opposition between 2001 and 2015 still haunts us. Therefore, panic grips people especially professionals, traders, travellers and students when BNP stages any rally or brings out procession.
We all have to remain alert when travelling the city roads during BNP’s programme. Besides, the government should take steps to provide security to general people and to maintain peace in the country.
We hope BNP will shun the path of violence and join next general elections as the existence of the party is on the verge of extinction. However, if BNP tries to destroy the country’s peace and order, the government must deal with them with an iron hand.
Besides, if anyone tries to create chaos or launch arson attacks in the country in order to foil the next national elections, they must not be spared.
