A Dhaka court on Friday placed BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and convener of BNP media cell Jahir Uddin Swapan on six-day remand each in a case lodged over murder of police constable Amirul Islam Pervej on October 28.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jaki Al Farabi passed the order as police produced the duo before the court and pleaded to place them on 10-day remand in the case.

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury was picked from a flat in Gulshan in the wee hours of today, while Jahir Uddin Swapan too was detained from Gulshanon Thursday night.

Constable Pervej, 32, was brutally killed allegedly by the leaders and activists of BNP during their grand rally in capital's NayaPaltan area on October 28.

Paltan Police Station sub-inspector Masuk Miah on October 29 filed the case against 164 people, making BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam as the prime accused.
