There has been a staunch criticism and protests from the party insiders in Akhanagar union of Awami League under Sadar upazila of Thakurgaon following the inclusion of the former General Secretary of BNP of the union as the President of Awami League of the same union. Aggrieved Awami League leaders and activists have questioned how a BNP leader even after being identified as an infiltrator has been given the responsibility of the President of AL.

According to sources, the triennial council of Akhanagar union was held on January-26. The names of the committee members including the President and the General Secretary were not declared immediately after the council because of there having more than one contestant for the posts. Later on, Presidium Member of AL Ramesh Chandra Sen was given the responsibility to select the members of the committee.

It is learnt, Ramesh Chandra Sen selected Roman Badsha, former  General Secretary of Akhanagar Union BNP as the President of Akhanagar Union unit of Awami League. Recently, the name of Roman Badsha was published as the infiltrator in Awami League. Rokshedul Haque Chowdhury was selected as the General Secretary of the union after the council.

Samaul Haque, Organising Secretary of Akhanagar union AL informed, an infiltrator from BNP Roman Badsha has been awarded the post of the President of union AL while depriving the devoted AL leaders.

Abu Sayed Babu, General Secretary of Ruhiya Thana AL in this connection said, the elected President of Akhanagar union Roman Badsha was once a leader of BNP. But, he has been selected as the President of the union as per the decision of local councillors and the leaders at the last council of the party.
