BNP leader MA Haque dies with Covid-19 symtoms

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s advisor and former president of Sylhet district and city unit BNP MA Haque died with coronavirus like symptoms in Sylhet. He was 67.

The BNP leader breathed his last around 10:00 am on Friday while undergoing treatment at North East Medical College Hospital.

The hospital’s Managing Director Dr Shahriar Hossain Chowdhury confirmed the matter. He said that the BNP leader had been suffering from cold related illness for the last several days and admitted to the hospital few days ago. Later he was shifted to the ICU as his physical condition deteriorated. 

Sylhet district BNP Secretary General Ali said that MA Haque’s namaz-e-janaza was held after Asr prayer in Manik Pir mazar area in Sylhet city. Later, he was buried at the graveyard in his parental home.

On suspicion of Covid-19, his swab samples were collected and sent to the laboratory on Thursday.

MA Haque left behind a son and a daughter, said Ali Ahmed, former general secretary of Sylhet district unit BNP.
