BNP leader fined for hoarding soybean oil

A trader has been fined Tk 30,000 by a mobile court in Naogaon's Niamatpur for illegally stockpiling 20,000 liters of soybean oil.

The Upazila Parishad and the NSI conducted a joint operation on Sunday at Chatal's warehouse near the market and imposed the fine.

Niamatpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al Mamun said the raid was carried out at Humayun Kabir's Habiba store in Chatal's warehouse next to the market adjacent to the Upazila Parishad tipped off by the National Security Intelligence (NSI). 

Humayun Kabir is a local business men, General Secretary of Upazila Business Association a BNP leader.

He was fined Tk 30,000 for illegally stockpiling 20,000 liters of soybean oil in 100 drums at that time. He was initially warned and for illegal business operations and warehousing without a license he was directed to submit his business license to the deputy commissioner's office within the next five working days. 

He further said that the stockpiled oil was directed to be sold at government market price within next 5 days.

Humayun Kabir was also initially warned of illegal business operations and warehousing without a license. 

He also said that this campaign will continue for serving the public interest.

Members of Upazila administration, NSI and police were present in the operation.
