BNP-Jamaat terrors continue arson attacks across country

BNP-Jamaat terrors set fire to a courtroom, three buses, a pickup van and a truck in Khunla, Dhaka, Magura and Rajshahi on Wednesday during the second day of the 36-hour blockade called by BNP.

Dhaka: A passenger bus of ‘Bangabandhu Airport Paribahan’ was set on fire by BNP-Jammat miscreants in the capital’s Shahbagh intersection.

The fire was reported at 2:34pm on Wednesday, said Shahjahan Sikder, deputy assistant director of the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters media cell.

On information, two firefighting units from Palashi Fire Station rushed to the spot and doused the fire.

Earlier in the morning, arsonists set a bus on fire near Ibne Sina Hospital in the capital’s Dhanmondi area. A bus belonging to ‘Rajanigandha Paribahan’ was set ablaze around 9:15am, and the perpetrators swiftly fled the scene, said Lima Khanam, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense headquarters control room.

On information, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze.

In the old part of the capital, miscreants set fire to a bus of Savar Paribahan with passengers on board, in front of Bahadur Shah Park.

The incident occurred on the road between Bahadur Shah Park and Kabi Nazrul Government College at around 12:00pm on Wednesday.

Russell Mia, driver of the bus, said he was on way to Sadarghat with passengers from Savar. While reached near Kabi Nazrul College suddenly, passengers raised an alarm about a fire, prompting a swift evacuation. Locals douse the blaze using water.

Khulna: Miscreants have set fire to a courtroom of Paikgacha Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Khulna early Wednesday.

The docks for the accused and the sitting place of the lawyers were burnt in the incident.

Witnesses said that when people went to the mosques for Fajr prayers, they saw fire at Paikgacha Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court. Locals then brought the fire under control.

Khulna Superintendent of Police (SP) Saidur Rahman said that action will be taken after the investigation.

Khulna SP, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Muhammad Al-Amin, Assistant Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam, Judicial Magistrate Anwarul Islam, and members of various intelligence agencies visited the scene and collected various evidences from the spot.

Earlier on Tuesday night, BNP-Jamaar arsonists set fire to a pickup van at Kachundi in Magura Sadar at 9:30 pm. In another indecent, miscreants set fire to a truck in Monigram of Bagha Upazila of Rajshahi at 11:30 pm.
