A total of 263 vehicles have been torched by BNP-Jamaat miscreants in the last 42 days at different places across the country during the hartal and blockade enforced by BNP, Jamaat and likeminded parties.
BNP and Jamaat have been enforcing hartal and blockade for four days a week since October 28 with an evil intention to destabilise the country.
The vehicles which have been torched during the period include 162 buses, 44 trucks, 23 covered vans, eight motorcycles, said Md Shahjahan Sikder, Deputy Assistant Director of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The miscreants have also set ablaze microbuses, fire-fighting vehicles, police pickup vans.
Even an ambulance has been set on fire at Rajarbagh police hospital.
Besides, the BNP-Jamaat activists set 15 buildings on fire, including offices of the Awami League, police boxes, councilor offices, power supply offices, bus counters and showrooms.
