BNP-Jamaat arsonists set at least 14 vehicles on fire in the past 40 hours until 10pm on Thursday at different places in the country during the nationwide blockade enforced by BNP and Jamaat.
Of the vehicles, eight were burnt in Dhaka city, three in Chattogram, two in Gazipur, one in Sirajganj, and one in Feni according to the media cell of the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The vehicles included eight buses, two covered vans, one truck, and three pickup vans, it said.
Dhaka: BNP-Jamaat terrors set fire to a bus of Gazipur Paribahan in the capital’s Motijheel around 9:30am on Thursday.
Two firefighting units brought the fire under control, said Rozina Akhter, the duty officer of the fire service.
Motijheel police said CCTV footage is being checked to identify the perpetrators.
In another incident, a bus was set on fire in front of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) at Shahbag in the city.
Md Shajahan Shikdar, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence (media cell), said that a group of miscreants set fire to the bus at 1:35pm.
On information, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the fire. No causalities were reported in this incident.
In another incident, miscreant set fire to a truck in front of ADB bank at Agargaon area in the capital at around 12:10am on Wednesday.
Feni: a covered van was set on fire at Rejumia Bridge in Chhagalnaiya upazila at around 3:10am on Wednesday.
Sirajganj: Miscreants set fire to a baby chicken-carrying pickup van
on the Pabna-Bogura highway in front of the Durgadah gas filling station in Tetiyarkanda area under Shahjadpur upazila of the district Wednesday night.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Shahjadpur Police Station Khairul Bashar said that the pickup carrying chickens of ACI Company was going from Mauna to Pabna.
When the pickup reached the area, miscreants set fire to it around 9:45 pm, leaving seven thousand baby chickens dead on the spot. The miscreants fled from the spot immediately, he said.
Being informed, fire service personnel rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control, the OC added.
The OC also said that the driver of the pickup was injured as the miscreants hot him with sticks.
Chattogram: BNP-Jamaat terrors torched a bus at Chandgaon C&B area in Chattogram city on Wednesday night.
According to Zahidul Kabir, officer-in-charge of Chandgaon Police Station, miscreants set the bus ablaze at 11:30 pm. On information, a firefighting unit rushed to the spot and doused the blaze.
