Terming BNP a party of killers, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said those who have been identified as killers will not be able to develop the country.

“Those who were involved in the killings on August 15, 1975, the Jail killing on November 3, 1975 and grenade attack on August 21, 2004 would not able to do any welfare of the state”, he told the triennial conference of Jubo Mahila League at Suhrawardy Uddhyan in the capital on Thursday.

Coming down heavily on a BNP leader for making statement that BNP is preparing a design to rebuild the country and it [the design] will be made public, Quader said how the BNP will do so as the party sponsored the three major bloodsheds in the country.Calling the BNP’s plan a ridiculous one, he surprised that how the party will rebuild the state as it had amended the country’s Constitution to give impunity to the self-confessed killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, mentioned that BNP made Bangladesh the world champions in graft for five consecutive times while a top BNP leader was convicted in a graft case on charge of siphoning off a huge amount of money abroad.

About on an arrogant comment made by a BNP leader that the country would be led by BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia after the December 10 this year, he minister said: “Where your arrogance is now as the country’s people smashed your pride”.

Highlighting the country’s progress achieved by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the AL general secretary said Sheikh Hasina is doing everything for the welfare of the country’s people by taking risk and no politician is leading a risky life like her after 1975.

Noting that Sheikh Hasina is a leader of development ,he said the long-cherished Padma Bridge was constructed with own finance, over 100 bridges opened simultaneously, metro rail project is set to be launched, Bangabandhu tunnel is under construction beneath Karnaphuli River in Chattogram.

Some 100 roads will be inaugurated in one day, Quader added.

Chaired by Jubo Mahila League president Nazma Akhter, the conference was attended by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as chief guest. The conference was moderated by the general secretary of Juba Mohila League Apu Ukil.
