Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Monday said BNP is concerned about Begum Khaleda Zia’s health instead of coronavirus (COVID-19) and the health condition of the countrymen, reports BSS.

“It is seemed from BNP’s statement that they are not worried about the coronavirus and the health of the country’s people rather they are much more concerned about Begum Khaleda Zia’s health as they are echoing only the issue of her health condition in their speeches,” he said replying to a question from a journalist at the International Mother Language Institute (IMLI) in the city.

Earlier, he attended a meeting of Media and Publicity Subcommittee of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee there.
Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary, put emphasis on terminating the politics of vengeance in the ‘Mujib Year, saying that Begum Khaleda Zia does the politics of hatred.

“She (Khaleda Zia) celebrated her fake birthday and cut cake on Bangabandhu killing day by changing her real birth date. When she was in state power, terrorists led by her son Tarique Rahman under the government patronisation carried out 21 August grenade attack to kill Bangabandhu’s daughter,” he said, adding BNP is more worried about those, who do the politics of hatred and hostility.

He urged the BNP to think about the people instead Begum Khaleda Zia’s health if they want to do politics for the people. Noting that the people of the entire world are worried about the COVID-19, the information minister said the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken all-out preparation to combat the outbreak of the epidemic virus.

Being well equipped with modern health facilities, the United States (US) could not prevent the COVID-19, he said, Bangladesh has done well in combating the virus comparing to other countries.
