BNP branded as a terrorist organisation again

The party must shun the path of violence

The Federal Court of Canada once again termed the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) as a terrorist organisation a few days ago while dismissing the plea of a BNP member who sought political asylum.

With this, BNP has been declared as a terrorist organisation for the fifth time by the Canadian court, according to media reports. A BNP activist named Mohammad Jypsed Ibne Haque sought political asylum in Canada but was rejected by the country’s federal court.

According to the court, the BNP man has been associated with a group which was trying to overthrow democratic government of Bangladesh through violence and terrorism. On June 15, while deciding on a judicial review petition, the court termed BNP a terrorist organisation.

Jypsed Ibne Haque sought political asylum in Canada citing himself a victim of political revenge in Bangladesh. In the review, the federal court mentioned that the petitioner was a member of BNP from 2011 to 2015.

The Canadian immigration authorities have found reasonable grounds to believe that the BNP is an organisation that has been engaged in violence and sabotage to oust the Awami League government.

We all have to unite in

order to bring the

pro-liberation forces

 topower in the next

general election

The application seeking political asylum of two Bangladeshis— Masud Rana and Salim Badsha — was rejected in 2018 and 2022 respectively for their connection with BNP.

Earlier, the Canadian Federal Court also described BNP as a “terrorist organisation” twice -- first in February and again in May -- over a petition seeking political asylum by two of its activists. So, it has been proved in the courts of Canada and Bangladesh that BNP is a terrorist party.

A speedy trial tribunal sentenced 19 people to death, 19 others, including Tarique Rahman, to life imprisonment and eight more to different terms of jail in two cases filed over the August 21 grenade attack on an Awami League rally in the capital in 2004. And Tarique Rahman is the mastermind of the grenade attack. James F Moriarty, the then US Ambassador to Dhaka on November 3, 2008 had sent a confidential email to US State Department in order to deny entry of Tarique Rahman.

BNP has once again been recognised internationally as a terrorist organisation for the fifth time. Therefore, the people of the country get shocked when they (BNP) talk about Tarique Rahman as he is the symbol of terrorism, violence and corruption to the countrymen.

The BNP-Jamaat alliance had tried time and again to put hindrance on the democratic process by resorting to the culture of arson attacks, terrorism and killings. We all have to resist the BNP and Jamaat and unite in order to bring the pro-liberation forces to power in the next general election.
