Rupganj Correspondent: In a massive show of force on National Revolution and Solidarity Day, BNP's nominated candidate for Narayanganj-1 (Rupganj), Mustafizur Rahman Bhuiyan Dipu, declared his intention to win the constituency with the highest number of votes in the country as a gift for the party's acting chairman, Tarique Rahman.
The rally, which started from the Bhulta Allah Dan Aart ground at 4:15 pm and circled the Golakandail square, was the culmination of a gathering that began hours earlier. Leaders and activists started arriving at the ground from 3 pm, accompanied by placards, festoons, and horse-drawn carriages. The atmosphere intensified when candidate Dipu Bhuiyan entered at 4 pm, with the entire area resonating with party slogans.
Addressing the crowd from a makeshift stage on a truck, Dipu Bhuiyan made a series of bold commitments. "We will light up every house in Rupganj," he proclaimed, asserting that the area has been neglected for the past 17 years and vowing to reverse this trend. He paid tribute to the sacrifices of party members, stating that BNP leaders and activists have endured significant persecution and loss of life over that period.
The core of his speech centered on a dedication to the party leadership. "Patriotic leader Tarek Zia has gifted us the Rupganj seat. We will give the gift to Tarek Zia by winning the most votes in the whole country," Bhuiyan announced, framing the upcoming electoral contest as a national priority for the BNP.
The event was attended by a strong contingent of senior local BNP leaders, signaling unified support for the candidate. Present at the rally were former General Secretary of Narayanganj District BNP Golam Faruk Khokon, alongside Rupganj Upazila BNP President Mahfuzur Rahman Humayun and General Secretary Bashiruddin Bachchu. Also in attendance were prominent figures Abdul Aziz Master, Nurunnabi Bhuiyan, Ashraful Haque Ripon, Anwar Sadat Sayem, Golzar Hossain, and Alamgir Hossain Titu.
