BMMDP holds knowledge-sharing session marking its closure

A knowledge-sharing event, titled "Deep Dive into Bangladesh Microinsurance Market - Learning and Way Forward," was held on Thursday to commemorate the closure of the program titled Bangladesh Microinsurance Market Development Programme (BMMDP).

The event served as a platform for engaging discussions and the exchange of valuable ideas, with a focus on addressing the challenges faced in the microinsurance sector. The insights gained from this event will contribute to the design of future phases of the programme.

Held at Sheraton Dhaka, the knowledge-sharing event was graced by the presence of Muhammad Abdul Mannan, Minister of Planning attended as the Chief Guest. 

Senior officials from the Government of Bangladesh, the Insurance Regulator, and Development Partners also participated, adding their expertise to the discussions. Funded by the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh and anchored by the Financial Institutions Division, Ministry of Finance, and NGO Affairs Bureau, BMMDP has been effectively managed by Swisscontact Bangladesh. 

The programme's Phase 1 was dedicated to piloting and testing various insurance products and distribution channels, identifying and developing appropriate crop and livestock insurance solutions, and promoting capacity development within the sector through action research, policy research, and use case generation.

During the knowledge-sharing event, participants shared the key learnings and outcomes achieved since the initiation of the programme, highlighting the multitude of challenges encountered along the way.
